This project involved making a spiral staircase, called the Shell Staircase due to its organic, compact helical shape, for a private home in Paris. The work included creating a continuous balustrade in Krion Snow White, a modular central pole in Krion, and integrating them with laminated oak steps. This resulted in a piece that combines structural strength with a high-end look.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Krion Snow White was chosen for the balustrade and central pole because it forms a uniform surface without joints or visible seams. This enhances the lightness of the helical structure. As a seamless white solid surface, Krion allows the curved design to appear as one continuous form instead of several pieces. The laminated oak steps were selected for their strength and stability. They add a warm tone that interacts nicely with the white of the Krion, creating an elegant contrast consistent with the upscale residential setting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The custom spiral staircase features horizontal grain oak steps, which have a rectangular shape and clean edges. The Krion Snow White balustrade forms a continuous curve that smoothly follows the spiral’s line. The central pole consists of stacked Krion modules placed between the steps, resulting in a clean, solid vertical structure. The light-colored parquet flooring complements the oak steps, reinforcing the overall material harmony.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This project was carried out on an international commission basis. The Krion was crafted in the workshop, the balustrade was shaped into a continuous curve, and the central pole modules were made to precise measurements, with final assembly done on site. Each stage was managed in-house to ensure precise geometry and consistent quality throughout the process.
