This project involves the supply of custom Krion surfaces for hotels, produced by GP Design for the common areas of a luxury hotel in Paris. The three elements are: the reception desk, the bar counter and the spiral staircase, all finished in Krion Snow White. Each component required specific fabrication processes, with distinct technical solutions tailored to the geometry and function of each piece.
The reception desk is configured in a double-L layout, entirely in Krion Snow White. The articulated geometry requires precise jointing and consistent finishing across multiple work surfaces, with a clean, uninterrupted visual result. The surface is machined to ensure uniformity and aesthetic coherence across the full structure.
The bar counter, finished in Krion Snow White, incorporates a perimeter LED lighting system along the lower edge. The fabrication includes a dedicated routing of the base profile to house the light strip continuously. The result enhances the counter surface and defines its perimeter with even grazing light, with no visible interruptions.
The spiral staircase is built with a laminated oak structure. The balustrade is fabricated using custom Krion surfaces for hotels in thermoformed Snow White, curved and shaped to follow the helical line of the staircase. This process requires bringing the material to a controlled temperature to take on the required curvature, maintaining structural integrity and visual continuity across the full length of the balustrade. It is among the most technically demanding applications when working with custom Krion surfaces for hotels at an international level.
GP Design is a craft workshop specialising in Solid Surface fabrication, based in Vicenza, Italy. It produces custom surfaces for residential and commercial environments, working on private commissions and architectural projects.
