This project involved the fabrication of a custom full-wall bookcase for a private residence in Vicenza. The piece is a fully personalised structure in white melamine, with internal and external surfaces clad in 6 mm Krion Glacier White, organised as a honeycomb composition with deliberately irregular compartment shapes and sizes, animated by diagonal lines that produce an effect of movement and controlled asymmetry. The lower section comprises four closed push-pull modules.
Krion Glacier White was applied at 6 mm thickness across the entire structure, giving the bookcase a continuous, compact and visually uniform surface that absorbs natural light from the side windows evenly across its full height. As a custom honeycomb bookcase, the piece communicates precision and material consistency across every irregular compartment. The honeycomb structure with diagonal dividers does not follow a regular grid: some partitions run diagonally across multiple shelves, creating compartments of varying heights and widths that break the monotony of the repeated module typical of traditional bookcases.
The horizontally developed bookcase occupies the full wall between two symmetrical windows, reaching almost to the ceiling height. This irregular geometry was designed to house collectible pieces of varying shapes, such as the owner’s Murano glass collection, showcasing each object within a compartment calibrated to its dimensions, while the handleless push-pull base modules ensure formal continuity with the rest of the composition.
The project was executed on a bespoke commission basis, with the geometry custom-designed for the available space and fabrication of the melamine structure and Krion Glacier White cladding panels carried out in the workshop, cutting, application, and edge finishing with installation performed on site, including final assembly and mounting of the push-pull base modules. Each stage was managed in-house to ensure quality control throughout the entire process.
